How to Move from Goodnotes to Noteshelf

Welcome to Maria’s Craftroom! Today I’m showing how I moved my planners out of Goodnotes and into Noteshelf. I spent many years working in Goodnotes and making videos for using that app (on my old channel… MariasDigitalPlanning). However, it started failing me so I moved into Noteshelf last year. If you want to move your planners out of goodnotes, then keep reading…

Instructions:

I suggest you finish out the current month in Goodnotes, export Flattened, then download a new clean copy of your planner and start the rest of the year fresh in Noteshelf.

First, open your planner/journal in the Goodnotes App. Export the PDF file with all the toggles selected. I suggest you export Flattened. This will bring over your images, handwriting and text over. However, your links will not work.

When I tried to export Editable, my images DID NOT transfer over. My handwriting came over and the links did continue to work, but I lost all my images. (Nooooo!)

So I do suggest you export as Flattend rather than Editable. Think of this as your historical version. It will not be editable, but all your work will be there for you. Then, import a NEW fresh clean copy of your planner into Noteshelf, and continue to work there going forward. I keep original purchased files in my files section, but you can always go back to Etsy and download a new clean copy of your files.

Some people prefer to leave their sticker books in Goodnotes and work side by side using drag N drop and just plan in Noteshelf. I tend to not use sticker books, and prefer to use my images directly from the photo roll albums. It’s all personal preference at that point.
