Two Methods to Watercolor – Home Decor

Hi this is Maria. Today we’re making a Home Decor framable art piece using two methods: Water Color Pencils with Blender Pens, and Ink Pads with Water Painters. I couldn’t decide how to color this, so we’re doing both and will decide later. This will look beautiful framed and displayed in my office.

Craft with me!

Easy step by step instructions on YouTube so that you can watch, pause as needed, and craft along.

I had to get the “In the Moment” stamp set because it has an image of a woman reading with her dog, and I immediately thought of Penny! She’s always at my side. I thought it would be odd to make myself a card, but a picture to display in my office seemed perfect.

The Color Pencil & Blender Pen gave a lovely soft look. The Color Pencils can be used on their own, or blended with the Blender Pens. It was easy to control where the color went, and gave beautiful results. The paper did not warp. Coloring with pencils lets you take your time and color peacefully. The Colored Pencils come in two packs. This gives you lots of blendable color options for a low cost.

The Ink Pads and Water Painter gave a bold color that blended beautifully. Take care not to pick up too much water as the color may be too washed out, or it may run. This method warps the paper a bit (using Basic White CardStock). The color went on very quickly. This requires you have lots of ink pads, or it gives you the opportunity to buy more ink pads!

In the end, I chose to use the Color Pencil & Blender Pen image in the finished piece. The colors turned out lighter, but the image as a whole looked better. I prefer the brighter colors of the Ink Pads and Water Painter image, but I didn’t use it because the book didn’t turn out well.
