Easy Embossed Card

Hi this is Maria… Welcome to Maria’s Craftroom! Today we’re making an easy card using an embossing folder and some stamps with matching punches.

Instructions:

I love making cards! Especially when a friend is feeling down. Nothing like a nice homemade card to brighten someone’s day. I was wandering through the craft stores last weekend and saw a fabulous floral embossing folder at JoAnne Fabrics. It reminded me of something, so I bought it. It was on sale, so I had to have it……..

Once I got it home, I realized that it has a flower that looks like an old stamp set called Flower Shop and matching punch that I already have. It’s not a perfect match, but it works just very well. I do love to use what I have and maybe just add on to it.

Cut your paper:

  • Card base Whisper White 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in
  • Solid piece: Purple: 4 x 5 1/4 in
  • Accent piece: Shimmer White 3 1/2 x 4 3/4 in

I like to use a Gemini, but any die cut machine will work. Place the shimmer white piece inside of the embossing folder and send it through the machine. Always use minimal shims with the Gemini. It is very powerful. You can always add another shim if you need it. I used just the clear plates with the embossing folder this time. It embossed brilliantly!

Using a sponge blending tool, I inked Gorgeous Grape ink lightly right over the embossing. It looks stunning over that shimmer sparkle card. Layer that shimmer layer over the purple using liquid glue. This helps fill those dips caused by the embossing. Then, attach both to the card base using liquid glue again.

Next, stamp the sentiment on the inside of the card. Today, I’m using a stamp set by Hero Arts that has lots of friendship stamps. Using a piece of scrap, I stamped another sentiment in that pretty purple ink to go on the front of the card. Stamp the flower on another piece of scrap and punch it out with the matching punch. Then stamp two leaves from the Floral Essence Stamp set using Garden Green ink.

Use liquid glue to secure the sentiment, flower and two leaves to the front of the card to make a focal point. Add something shiny to the center of the flower because…. well you can’t have enough shiny stuff…..

Make a matching envelope by using the same flower and simply stamping on the front of that envelope. That ties your card to the envelope beautifully and gives your project a very put together look.
